Fostul basist de la Weezer a fost găsit mort după ce şi-a prezis decesul pe Twitter
Fostul basist al trupei americane de rock alternativ Weezer, Mikey Welsh, a fost găsit mort, duminică, într-o cameră de hotel din Chicago, după ce, cu două săptămâni în urmă, şi-a prezis decesul într-un mesaj pe Twitter.
Fostul rocker, care s-a dedicat picturii după retragerea din trupă, se afla la Chicago pentru a-i vedea pe foştii săi colegi de la Weezer cântând la Riot Fest, informează dailymail.co.uk.
Cauza decesului nu a fost anunţată oficial, dar, potrivit unor surse, poliţiştii suspectează că artistul ar fi consumat droguri.
În urmă cu două săptămâni, pe 26 septembrie, Welsh scria pe Twitter: "Am visat că am murit în Chicago weekend-ul viitor (atac de cord în timp ce dormeam). Trebuie să îmi scriu testamentul astăzi". După acest mesaj, el a adăugat o corectură, precizând că este vorba de "următorul weekend", adică 8 - 9 octombrie.
Welsh a mai făcut referire la propriul deces şi pe pagina lui de Facebook, unde şi-a prezentat o lucrare pe care o oferea spre vânzare pentru 250 de dolari. "Dacă încă mai trăiesc la momentul vânzării, preţul va creşte exponenţial dacă mor prematur", mai nota el.
Mikey Welsh s-a alăturat trupei Weezer în 1998 şi a putut fi ascultat pe albumul formaţiei din 2001, cunoscut drept "The Green Album", în piese precum "Island in the Sun" şi "Hash Pipe". În acelaşi an, muzicianul, care mergea şi în turnee cu Juliana Hatfield, a avut o cădere nervoasă, iar mai târziu a avut o tentativă de sinucidere.
"Practic, după o viaţă în care am luat droguri şi nu am fost diagnosticat cu tulburări, sindromul stresului posttraumatic şi tulburarea de tip borderline m-au ajuns din urmă când aveam 30 de ani", a spus Welsh într-un interviu în 2007.
Astfel, Welsh s-a retras din trupă şi s-a dedicat picturii, mutându-se la Burlington, Vermont, cu soţia şi cele două fiice ale sale.
